CITP protocol questions

Hi,

I have questions for CITP protocol.

1.)
Whats the right way when an console display the name of a media server.
e.g.
Capture Polar view the MSEX->SInf->ProductName
CITP-TestSuite Browser view the MSEX->PLoc->Name
Whats right?

2.)
the protocol say

UUID: This is required so that a lighting console can reliably associate cached information (e.g. thumbnails) with a specific Media Server when starting a new session, in the case where there may be more than 1 of a specific type of Media Server ...

but MSEX -> GELT/ELTh/GETh/EThn don't have a UUID?

please help for better understand

3.)
Must
MSEX->SInf(1.2)->UUID
and
MSEX->StFr(1.2)->MediaServerUUID
correspond because is a different name?

4.)
Exist an hardware/software thats supported MSEX 1.2?

Hi,

1 - There is no right way. The information is there, it's up to you what you do with it..

The product name is good, but also fairly constant. The peer name could potentially have been set by the user if the system allows it, but it might also just be the product name with an IP address or something like that. There is no trivial answer to your question!

2 - Since it's TCP and the UUID is transmitted at the beginning of the session, there is no need to repeat it.

3 - Stream frames are sent multicast on UDP though, so here there is a need to repeat it. Also, since multiple media servers could be sending from the same IP address we wanted the UUID there to be able to tell them apart (although you can do that to some extent by analyzing port numbers, but it's not very convenient).

4 - There is a posting with a compatibility chart that you have probably found, but it is probably fairly not-up-to-date. If I'm not mistaken, Hippo have done the full monty.
