Console Determination of the session MSEX version.

Postby kcclarkfw » Thu Nov 17, 2011 4:52 pm

It's easy to see how a server determines what MSEX version to use, All it has to do is look at the console CInf message and find the highest common version.

In 1.0 and 1.1 though there doesn't seem to be a way for the console to find out what version the server settled on. 1.2 solves this problem with an expanded SInf message, but what about 1.0 and 1.1?

Something I have missed? Any conventions? looking for Nacks etc.?

Hi,

Hmm.. good question. I'm not sure there's a good answer.

If the Media Server starts the conversation with 1.1 and the client isn't up to it, it's game over.
If the Media Server starts the conversation with 1.0, the client sends a 1.1 request and receives a 1.1 answer, the conversation can go on in 1.1, otherwise it's just 1.0.

I think..
